Studio

The Studio library

The shared library of tasks, routines and detectors every instance draws on.

Studio is where the bot's work is built, and it is shared by every instance. A task is something an instance can run: a flow of steps the bot follows from top to bottom. A routine is a reusable piece of flow that tasks call. A detector is a saved instruction for finding something on the screen or reading a number, which steps use by name.

Open it with the Studio icon on the title bar, just after the Calculator icon. Studio is not a plan task or a duty: it is the library that each instance's Duties shelf and Task setup draw their tasks from. Changes you save here reach every open instance straight away, without a restart.

Aurora and Prism head the page with Studio, the line Build the bot's tasks, routines and detectors — shared by every instance. and the tabs Tasks, Routines and Vision Lab. Standing Watch draws Studio as a desk under one head band: STUDIO, the three tabs as square icon keys, and the same line at the right. While a task is open in an editor on a wide window, Standing Watch also keeps the library beside it as a column on the left — one row per card, with New task (or New routine), the role filter and New bundle — and clicking a row there leaves the editor the way Studio does.

Start a task of your own

  1. On the title bar, click the Studio icon, just after the Calculator icon. The Tasks tab opens.
  2. Click the New task card, the first card in the grid. The Task Builder opens with an empty flow named New task.
  3. Add steps from the Steps panel, click Save task, name the task, choose Runs as, add a description and click Save.
  4. Click Studio at the top left to come back. Your task has a card, and its toggle is on.
  5. On an instance, open Duties and click the task's chip on the Tasks shelf to add it to the plan (see The task plan).

The library page

Studio
The page heading, with the line Build the bot's tasks, routines and detectors — shared by every instance.
Tasks
Everything an instance can run, bundles included. This tab carries the role filter and the New bundle button.
Routines
Reusable pieces of flow that tasks and other routines call with a Run routine step. Routines never appear on a shelf or in a plan, so their cards have no toggle.
Vision Lab
Build and tune detectors. It has its own page: Vision Lab.
All tasks / Main tasks / Side tasks
Tasks tab only (tooltip Filter the library by run role). Narrows the grid to tasks whose Runs as role is Main or Side. A task saved without a role counts as Side. Default: All tasks.
New bundle
Opens the New bundle dialog described below. Tooltip: Group tasks that share one way in — the bundle carries the navigation, its sub-tasks the work.
New task / New routine
The first card of each grid, shown whatever the filter. Opens an empty flow in the Task Builder.

A task card

Icon
A checklist for a task, a flow diagram for a routine, stacked boxes for a bundle.
Name
The task's name. Cards follow the library order you set by dragging cards on Task setup, then the name.
Chip
Main or Side (the task's Runs as role), Bundle for a bundle, or Routine on the Routines tab.
Enable toggle
Top right, tasks only. Tooltip: Enabled — offer this task in instance setup. Off hides the task from every instance's Tasks shelf and Task setup and stops it running anywhere, including when another task calls it. A built-in task can be switched only by an administrator: anyone else sees Admin restricted (Only an administrator can enable or disable a built-in task.) and the toggle springs back. Default: on.
Summary line
The Summary written on the task's settings form (see The Config UI builder). With no Summary it shows the description; with neither, a count such as 12 steps · 3 functions · configurable.
Edit
Opens the task: in the Task Builder, or in the Bundle Editor for a bundle. Clicking anywhere on the card does the same.
Delete (trash button)
Asks Delete “name”? This cannot be undone., then removes the task, its flow and any settings prepared for it on Task setup. Built-in tasks and routines cannot be deleted; a notice says so instead (… you can edit it, but it can't be deleted, and the next update puts it back the way it ships.).
You cannot switch a task off while a running instance still has it in its plan. Studio shows Task is running, names those instances and asks you to stop them first. An instance that has a switched-off task in its plan keeps the row; the task simply does not run until you switch it back on.

Built-in tasks and routines

Every task and routine that ships with Evonex has a card here and opens like your own. An edit you save to a built-in is used by every instance on this PC until the next update of Evonex: the first time a new version starts, every built-in task and routine is put back the way that version ships it. Built-ins cannot be deleted. A few built-in tasks that are run entirely by a duty card, such as keeping a bubble on the keep, are not listed in Studio.

Saving over a built-in task changes it for every instance on this PC, and the next update replaces your edit with the shipped version — there is no way to keep both. To keep a change for good, build it as a task of your own. Run flow in the Task Builder saves the task before it runs, so a test counts as a save.

New bundle dialog

The dialog explains: A bundle groups tasks that share one way in — open the window once, then hop between its tabs. Each sub-task is scheduled on its own in an instance's Task plan.

Name
The bundle's name (placeholder e.g. Event Center). Required: an empty name shows Give the bundle a name.
Runs as
Side task or Main task — a default, which each instance can change. Default: Side task.
Create bundle
Creates an empty bundle and opens it in the Bundle Editor to add its sub-tasks. Nothing is stored until you click Save bundle there.
Cancel
Closes the dialog without creating anything.

Troubleshooting

My task is not on the instance's Tasks shelf.
Check that its card toggle is on, that Run from Duties only is not ticked in Task config, and that the task is not already in that instance's plan: a task in the plan has no chip.
The toggle springs back when I switch a task off.
Either it is a built-in task, which only an administrator can switch (you saw Admin restricted), or a running instance still has it in its plan (you saw Task is running with the instance names). Stop those instances and try again.
Delete does nothing on a built-in task.
Built-in tasks and routines cannot be deleted. Remove the task from the plans that use it instead.
A task is in Studio but has no card on Task setup.
Task setup lists tasks that have something to fill in: a Configurable task with at least one field bound to a property. Basic tasks, and tasks set to Run from Duties only, have no card there.
I can't find a built-in task I know exists.
A few built-ins that belong entirely to a duty card are not listed in Studio. Set them up on the instance's Duties page.
